I have had an interest in most types of machinery, from ever since I was growing up. My father moved from farming into contracting, so there was always different machinery around. I developed a preservationist attitude to this sort of memorabilia.

Family activities and all that go with that evolving lifestyle. I would once have said Motorcycling, Bicycling and Travel, especially when it involves one or more of the above, but these days most of my travel is closer to home and done in the comfort of the family station wagon. I was allowed the indulgence of a new Ducati ST3 this year when I turned 50, to replace my 20 year old Yamaha FJ 1200. I had been very attached to the old FJ and it felt like taking an old, faithful dog to the vet to get put down, when I rode it to the dealer to pick-up the new bike ! I like to get out for a ride when I can. With a family ( with 2 young kids ) we do enjoy bicycle riding, however shorter distances these days. I have a 1924 Dodge Tourer, which has become a bit of a one day job to get restored, but I am committed to getting it done ! I also like to go to shows like the Historic Commercial Vehicles Day at Sandown ( in Melbourne ). I love reading about the big steam and historic events in the UK.
