A heart warming tale of the importance of feeling that you belong
I bought this book as I had read another Natasha Solomons book called The gallery of vanished husbands, which I enjoyed so much I looked for more from the same author. Mr Rosenblum's list didn't disappoint. In fact it was every bit as good if not better than my first foray into Ms. Solomons writing. At times hilarious and at times sad, Mr Rosenblum's list is the story of Jack and Sadie who arrive in England from Berlin just before the second world war. Jack is so determined to become a perfect English gentleman, he passionately adheres to the list of suggestions on how to fit in - from the leaflet given on arrival, and adds to it along the way. Living their life to the new rules and dropping some of their old customs, Jack and Sadie learn many lessons and that sometimes the old values never die.

A creepy novel about obsession
If you ever wondered what it would be like to have someone obsessing over you this is the book for you. Jennie and Martha are next door neighbours and best friends. One is gregarious and extrovert the other timid and shy. Over time their friendship gradually changes. As the tension builds, will find yourself swinging back and forth with your sympathies. Who will prevail? A real turn- pager and a great read to the last page.

A thoroughly enjoyable read - highly recommended
Starter for Ten provides lots of laughs for anyone born in the 50's or 60's -particularly if you happen to be Pom. It is especially enjoyable because it brings back so many memories of the era, which for many are long forgotten. Starter for ten was a phrase used in a television quiz show which saw universities competing with each other - University Challenge. The protagonist has fulfilled a life-long ambition by getting on to the team from his university, when another student has to drop out. There are all sorts of hilarious events and a love story along the way. A thoroughly enjoyable nostalgic journey for readers to enjoy a light hearted look at life for a working class boy with lofty ideals and a yearning to be taken as a serious intellectual. His struggle to remain loyal to his old school mates and his mum adds poignancy and warmth. Another great read from David Nicholls who manages to capture English life with complete authenticity.
