Crabby Cakes Studio is a collaborative effort by two talented friends with very distinct design styles. Bobbi’s style has a sassy, rockin’ flair and Christine’s style is more classic and traditional. Often times Bobbi and Christine buy the same paper or embellishments, but when they are finished with the item, it’s hard to tell that it started out with the same materials. The combination of our two schools of design creates unique and one of a kind art.
Abbout Bobbi
Bobbi’s love for scrap booking started in her teen years due to a very orderly and tidy mother. If anything laid on a table or inside a desk drawer that mom deemed garbage, well it went into the garbage! To prevent anything else getting thrown away, Bobbi started buying blank journals and taping and gluing her notes, cards and music tickets, pictures into those books. The pages where so boring! Soon after Bobbi started adding her own paintings, drawings, stickers and construction paper designs (now called paper piercing and embellishments) to them. Many of those books did not survive due to the lack of archival friendly products back then, but the love of creating with paper has never been lost since! Bobbi’s experiences have included being commissioned by local Cub Scout troops to create “A Year In a Life of a Scout” albums, she has worked with Close To My Heart as a Consultant, and has held Mother/Daughter scrap booking workshops to name a few.
About Christine
Christine has always loved doing art projects and often made so many arts and craft projects, that she would often hit the craft show circuit in the fall to sell her overstock of items. Although she was a business major, there was always a need to fulfill her creative side. She did not get involved in paper crafts until her engagement to her wonderful husband. She found the “almost” perfect wedding invitations on the internet but needed to make a couple of minor changes. Christine showed the invitation to Bobbi at work one day, who then promptly informed her that she could easily make the invitations herself. A little intimidated by the new art form, Christine took Bobbi’s advice and purchased a paper cutter, some card stock, and a couple of rubber stamps and as the saying goes… the rest is history. Christine went on to make her thank you cards for the showers and wedding. That turned into Christmas cards and then birthday cards and so on and so on..
