Well, they seem to be attracted to it and eat it.
Termites have been attacking our neighbourhood in the northern Brisbane suburbs for many years. Old hardwood fencing and timber subfloor battens seem to be particularly desirable. Low numbers are seen in garden beds. I observed that garden pots containing potting mix seem to act as an attractant when placed in garden beds alongside the house, and watered. On lifting the pots dozens of termites can sometimes be seen on the ground underneath the pots. Moisture, humidity and temperature may affect suitability. Initially I started putting part handfuls of the bait under the pots while causing minimal disturbance. I increased the number of pots in one area over a few weeks and have been adding more bait under a few of the pots each week or so, and placing the mixed bait, out of packet, under the garden soil adjoining the pots. I also placed handfuls of mixed bait under some termite-attacked treated hardwood lying at ground level on a small miscellaneous extension to the rear of the house. All I know is that the termites are feeding indulgently on the product. Whether or not it kills them or their queen is yet to be seen. But it seems more proactive than paying hundreds of dollars to have someone walk around the house banging it with a stick and providing a many page report saying there was evidence of past infestations.

    SG Catalogues
These catalogues can be purchased at good value, often superseded library stock. Recent catalogues are in colour but be aware that catalogues of this 2003 vintage are in black and white. The 2006 and 2010 ones I bought are in colour and therefore better value. They will say 'colour' on the cover. Anyone collecting or dealing in stamps even at a hobby level needs these catalogues as a reference. Happy stamping.
