Disinformation Guide to Ancient Aliens, Lost Civilizations, Astonishing...
    08 December 2016
    Imagination and Science lives on
The Disinformation Guide to Ancient Aliens, Lost Civilisations, Astonishing Archaeology and Hidden History celebrates the role of imaginative inquiry in the ongoing scientific quest of discovery and the tumultuous debates behind the scenes as collective perceptions of fact are negotiated and renegotiated. Reading these collection reminds the readers that prophets are still coming in from the deserts, that brave, passionate, disciplined, resolute and creative thinkers are chipping away at the edges of the unknown and uncovering fascinating possibilities. These Marco Polo's of the mind, these challengers of the fossilised status quo help remind us all of the wonders around us, of the perennial truth that fact is so much stranger than fiction and of the boundless curiosity that simultaneously celebrates our humanity and the universe around us. Do I care that some of the ideas presented here are so remote and metaphysical that I cannot believe them? Not really. Do I care that most of the ideas presented here have outraged the Establishment and have illustrated the flaws in the many myths of our time about times past? Absolutely. The emotionalism of the Establishment illustrated again and again in terms of its response to these creative thinkers is concerning because it is emotional rather than rational. It plainly illustrates that the Establishment has a lot to prove and this in itself invites celebration and renewed commitment to scientific adventure. Most of all this collection, this window into reasonably respected alternative views, fills me with renewed faith and hope in the scientific process, it renews my respect for the maverick thinkers of our time and it reassures me to see that texts such as this and views such as these are being published and are contributing to the ongoing debate. A little revolution now and then is a great thing for us all.
Wuthering Heights (1939) - Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier (Region All)

This original is still the best!
Somehow Wuthering Heights is more effective in black and white. The remakes of Wuthering Heights since this original have always fallen short for me. Merle Oberon captures Catherine Earnshaw so well!
